How we learn
How we learn

Our learning approach

At Kehoe-France Southshore, students question, explore, and collaborate, growing from curious early learners to confident Middle School leaders. Our private school in Metairie is grounded in the IB Primary Years Programme and Learning.First™, they investigate real-world issues, connect ideas across subjects, and use technology - from iPads to Chromebooks and Google Workspace - to enhance learning, creativity, and collaboration.

Through inquiry-driven lessons and ISP opportunities, they build Approaches to Learning (ATL) life skills - thinking, communication, social, self‑management, and research - turning what they know into meaningful action that enriches both themselves and the wider community.

Technology in the classroom

At Kehoe-France, technology is woven into everyday learning, helping students think critically, work creatively, and collaborate with confidence.

Grade 1 - 3

IPad integration

At our private school in New Orleans, students use 1:1 iPads from classroom carts every day. Teachers weave iPads into lessons to boost reading, writing, maths, and creativity through interactive apps, research tasks, and digital storytelling.

Using tools such as Seesaw, IXL, and BrainPOP, students build strong tech habits as they learn.

Grade 1 - 3

Grade 4

Transition to Chromebooks

Learners shift to 1:1 Chromebooks, with a dedicated cart in each classroom. This step-up in technology helps them develop digital fluency, keyboard skills, and confidence with Google Workspace tools like Docs, Slides, and Classroom.

Projects encourage growing independence and collaboration as they get ready for Middle School expectations.

Grade 4

Grade 5 - 7

Personalized digital learning

At our middle school in Metairie, students carry their own 1:1 Chromebooks throughout the day and take them home after school.

This flexibility means technology flows naturally through every subject. Students work together on group projects, research independently, code in the Design Lab and manage assignments through Google Classroom and other platforms. Digital citizenship, wellbeing and balance sit at the heart of the program so students use technology safely and thoughtfully.

Where learning comes first

Most schools talk about what they teach. We focus on how your child learns. Through the Learning.First™ approach, students reflect on their progress, explore new approaches and make decisions that drive their growth.

Curiosity fuels our learning

The best learning happens when students are actively engaged. We ignite curiosity through hands-on projects and inquiry-based learning, making learning exciting, memorable and full of exploration.

Confidence drives lifelong learning

Our students trust in their abilities, build confidence and lead their way forward. This mindset helps them believe they can learn and achieve anything, fostering a love for lifelong learning.

The power of 'Good Struggles'

We believe great learning happens just beyond the comfort zone. That’s why we create purposeful challenges, or 'good struggles', that help students stay motivated while they grow. Through these experiences, students build resilience, solve problems, and learn to keep going – even when it’s hard.

Teachers as co-pilots

Learning here is a partnership. Teachers work alongside students as guides, helping them navigate choices, embrace good struggles, inspire those 'aha' Amazing Learning moments of self-discovery and grow in confidence.

Measuring the quality of learning

We use the International Schools Partnership’s proven Learning Improvement Process (LIP) to ensure the quality of learning is continuously improving. This framework combines evidence, reflection and action, so teachers and leaders can focus on what makes the greatest difference for every learner. It means teaching is always evolving, learning experiences are continuously refined, and progress is measured against clear standards. For families, it gives confidence that your child’s education is guided by a framework built on evidence, designed for improvement and proven across a global community of schools.
