Summer Camp

Kehoe-France Summer Camp is where summer fun, friendship, and discovery come together, rooted in a proud legacy dating back to 1949. Open to students entering PK4 through Grade 8, our beloved program offers six- or eight-week options that blend recreation, creativity, and learning in a safe, supportive environment. This year, our summer camp in Metairie, LA, runs for eight weeks from June 2 through July 24.

Each day at our South Shore summer camp, campers dive into swimming, themed activities, sports, and hands-on projects, while tribe competitions and much-loved traditions – such as the Dominic Yu Relay Race, Talent Show, Watermelon Day, and Frog Races – build confidence, camp spirit, and memories that last long after summer ends.

We’re here for you

Our program

Every moment at our summer camp in Louisiana is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and strengthen friendships - whether campers are in the pool, exploring weekly themes, or joining in spirited tribe competitions.

Swimming and water confidence

Daily swimming is one of the best parts of Kehoe-France Summer Camp. Campers head to the pool every day for a mix of free swim and structured lessons led by certified lifeguards.

They grow more confident in the water as they practice technique, learn essential water safety and understand how to be responsible in and around the pool.

By the end of the sixth week, campers are ready for our much-loved Swim Meet – a fun, supportive competition where they can show what they’ve learned and cheer on their friends from the sidelines.

Weekly themes and activities

Every week our summer camp in Metairie, LA, centers on a new theme that sparks curiosity and hands-on exploration. Campers dive into art and ceramics, experiment with STEM and technology, and stay active with organized sports, tennis and outdoor games.

Culinary creations, team challenges and cooperative activities keep each day fresh and engaging. Throughout the summer, in-house field trips and special events – from bounce houses and rock walls to petting zoos and more – add extra excitement, so there’s always something new to discover.

Tribe competition and camp spirit

Campers quickly feel part of something bigger at Kehoe-France Summer Camp. At the start of the season, every camper joins one of two tribes. As the weeks go by, tribes earn points for teamwork, sportsmanship and taking part in camp challenges.

Each Friday, the entire camp comes together for a spirited Powwow filled with relays, games and loud cheers. These moments help campers practice leadership, collaboration and community, while building the kind of camp spirit they’ll talk about long after summer ends.
