Finding their voice through stories
Language grows through warm, responsive interactions. At our private school in Metairie, LA, teachers talk, sing, read and play alongside children, encouraging babbling, first words and simple phrases.
Storytime, songs and everyday conversations build early communication, rich vocabulary and a growing love of books and sounds.
Making sense of numbers in everyday moments
Early maths unfolds through play and daily routines at Kehoe-France Southshore. Children explore size, shape, and quantity as they stack blocks, fill and empty containers, and notice patterns in songs and rhymes.
Simple counting language and hands-on materials help them understand numbers and relationships in a natural, engaging way.
Exploring their world with curiosity
Exploration is sensory and hands-on. Children observe light, sound, texture, and movement as they reach, crawl, and walk through their environment.
They learn about themselves and others by building secure relationships, recognizing familiar faces and discovering routines, gently introducing ideas of self, family, community, and the wider world.

From Little Pioneers to Early Childhood
At Kehoe-France Southshore, as children move from Little Pioneers into the Early Childhood Center, they shift from a cozy, infant-focused environment into a toddler setting designed for more movement, choice, and interaction.
In Early Childhood, days include longer stretches of play, familiar daily routines, and small-group moments that build turn-taking and early friendships. Teachers introduce new materials, songs, and activities that match toddlers’ growing curiosity and mobility, while keeping familiar comforts and strong caregiver relationships in place.
Reggio-Emilia inspired learning

At one of the best private schools in Metairie, space is thoughtfully designed with inviting learning centers and rich, open-ended materials that encourage children to explore, create, and work together.
Rather than following a fixed script, themes grow naturally from children’s interests - whether they are curious about the changing seasons, community helpers, or the natural world - so projects feel meaningful, authentic, and genuinely child-led.
Families at Kehoe-France can take advantage of flexible Extended Care options that support busy schedules while keeping children safe, happy, and engaged beyond the regular school day.
Students may arrive early for Before Care from 7am to 7:30am, then, after a full day of learning, unwind in After Care from 3:30pm to 5:30pm with a balance of recreation, homework time, and creative play in a relaxed, well-supervised environment.
